# FIRST PRINTING

**Page 74,Exercise 2.98:** Change the three sentences after the table to: "A statistics practitioner recorded the cause of crashes among small commercial aircraft. The data are stored in file Xr02-98. Draw a graph that depicts these data."

**Page 75, Exercise 2.114:** Change the fourth sentence to "The responses are recorded 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, respectively, and stored in file Xr02-114."

**Page 210, 3rd line:** Delete ! after n in the denominator in the combinatorial formula. That is, it should be x!(n-x)!

**Page 430, 3rd line:** The formula for UCL is incorrect. It should be the ratio of the two sample variances multiplied by F_{alpha/2,nu1-nu2}

**Page 441, lines 10 and 11:** p_{1} is the death rate with streptokinase and p_{2} is the death rate with t-PA.

**Page 554, Exercise 16.45:** There are 9 sports categories listed in the survey (not 6). The additional categories and their codes are 6 = golf, 7 = auto racing, 8 = tennis, and 9 = other.

### Appendix C

**Exercise 14.2d:** Change UCL = $104.55

**Exercise 15.74:** Correct answer is F = 7.72, p-value = .0070; yes
