The recommendations in the report are not binding and consideration will be given to cost benefits and timing of any changes to ICT structure and process on campus.

Project Charter Statement

The goal of the project is to complete the development of a multi-year strategic plan for ICT (Information and Communications Technology) at Wilfrid Laurier University.


The scope of the plan will be all ICT at Laurier at present and to outline a roadmap of how we will position ICT in the future. Phases will include a strategic assessment, a review and update of governance models, infrastructure, technical platforms, standards and business processes that support Laurier’s ICT needs. The strategy will inform a multi-year transformation plan that will move Laurier’s ICT services from where they are today to where they need to be to support the Laurier of tomorrow.

Project Timeline

Phase 1 – ICT Strategic Assessment – Completion of an assessment of the organization context for ICT, an inventory of ICT investment, resources, standards and practices. Benchmarking of ICT investment and effectiveness against similar organizations and best practices. April – July 2009 Phase 2 – Outline ICT vision and strategy along with desired governance model, enterprise architecture, standards and support and operating models. Phase 2 will commence in July 2009, completion in early Fall 2009. Phase 3 – Development and execution of a multi-year implementation plan. Work will commence upon completion of Phase 2.
