Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies
York University
Interests: Social Work, Social Exclusion/Inclusion, Social Policy and

Research Interests

Luann Good Gingrich's research focuses on the processes and outcomes of social exclusion for marginalized groups, including poor single mothers, migrant farm labourers, and ethno-culturally distinct groups. Central to her conceptual development of social exclusion is conflicting meanings of work as defined by competing social fields and associated systems of capital. Her empirical and theoretical work looks for connections between subjective experience and material realities in understanding social exclusion its self-imposed expressions. She has worked with various closed communities of Old Order Mennonites and Low German speaking Mennonites from Mexico.
