FAQs regarding Faculty Structure
Laurier began a full review of Multi-Campus Governance in 2010 through a Presidential Task Force. After two reports, an academic working group was struck to make recommendations regarding the establishment of faculties at the Brantford campus. That working group recommended the establishment of two faculties, which was approved by Senate on April 16, and the Board of Governors on April 18, and became effective July 1, 2013.
The report of the Presidential Task Force on Multi-Campus Governance, as endorsed by Senate and approved by the Board of Governors, recommended that disciplinary Faculties be created at Laurier Brantford. In October 2012, Senate and the Board of Governors approved the terms of reference for the Brantford Academic Governance Working Group. The working groupís mandate was to develop models for a one-Faculty, two-Faculty, and three-Faculty structure and to recommend one of the models. Following extensive consultation and deliberation, the Brantford Academic Governance Working Group recommended that two Faculties be created from among the programs currently offered at Laurier Brantford.
In short, there is no change to the studentís academic experience. The changes are only applicable in terms of academic governance. The only noticeable changes to students should be in contact with their Dean/Associate Dean, and any faculty specific communications.
