Instructors have a Master of Social Work degree and are employed by practicum
teaching centres. They are expected to have at least two years post-MSW
full-time work experience, one year of employment within the agency, and to

Agency-based MSWs usually serve as Practicum Instructors for one or two interns each term. They are selected as instructors because of their competence and ability to integrate theory and practice. To be approved as a Practicum Instructor, the agency administrator must be in support of the intern education program and willing to provide the necessary time to permit the Practicum Instructor to undertake this responsibility.
In some circumstances, Practicum Instructors are only required to have a Bachelor of Social Work degree. BSW instructors are qualified to supervise students in the first year of the MSW program, provided the activities available for the MSW intern are at a masterís level.
