From the Big Bang to Black Holes: Canada's Role in the Quest for the Stars
with Dr. Shohini Ghose
Join us on Wednesday, May 18 as we celebrate 19 years of lifelong learning at Laurier! We are pleased to announce Dr. Shohini Ghose as our guest speaker that evening. Dr. Shohini Ghose is an Associate Professor of Physics and Computer Science and an affiliate of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. She is an award-winning quantum physicist, educator and internationally acclaimed speaker who studies how the laws of quantum physics can be harnessed to transform computation and communication and to develop novel tasks such as teleportation.
In 2014 she was selected as a TED Fellow, one of only two Canadians chosen for the prestigious program. Check out this TEDx talk by Shohini Ghose. As Director of the Centre for Women in Science, Dr. Ghose is empowering female scientists by providing grants and organizing workshops for girls interested in the STEM fields. She’s helping the next generation of scientists break gender barriers and change the face of science.
