Applying to the Program
Completion of a Masterís degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related disciplines, with a minimum overall GPA of A-.
Alternatively, students enrolled in either the MSc in Integrative Biology or MSc in Chemistry program for 8-12 months who have completed all of the degree requirements for those programs (except for the thesis and the full seminar requirements), and with the recommendation of the studentís MSc advisory committee, and approval of the co-Coordinators of the PhD program, may be eligible for early entry into the PhD program. In this case, all MSc course requirements and the MSc research proposal must be completed before admission to the PhD program will be considered. This option is for exceptional students, and all requirements as outlined in the Graduate Calendar must be met.
Applying for the PhD in Biological and Chemical Science programApplications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee, which considers:
- all prior university grades,
- a statement of research interests, and,
- 2 academic letters of reference.
Proficiency in English usage, both written and oral, is essential to pursue graduate studies at Laurier. Applicants whose language of instruction during the undergraduate degree was not English, must furnish evidence of superior proficiency in English prior to admission.
