David Chilton, '95

Dragon's Den Judge and Best-selling Author

In 1985, David Chilton won the prestigious H.L. Gassard Memorial Award for achieving the highest score in the country on the Canadian Securities Course. After a career as a stockbroker, David published a personal financial management book, The Wealthy Barber, in 1989. The book is still ranked as Canadaís all-time bestselling book by a Canadian author, with over three million copies sold. Its sequel, The Return of the Wealthy Barber, has also  been released.

David is also the publisher and company president of the Looneyspoons, Crazy Plates, and Eat, Shrink & Be Merry cookbooks by Greta and Janet Podleski. A popular public speaker, David has also hosted two critically acclaimed specials on PBS in the United States and appears on national programs, such as the CBCís The Hour. He received an Honorary Degree of Letters from Laurier in 2006, and has recently been named in Laurierís 100 Alumni of Achievement.
