University Teaching Certificates

There are two university teaching certificates open to graduate students at Laurier: the University Teaching Foundations (UTF) Certificate and the University Teaching Certificate (UTC). Click the above link for more information!

Graduate and TA Professional Development Workshops

Open to all graduate students, teaching and instructional assistants, these workshops fall under the award winning ASPIRE program, and contribute to the two teaching certificates offered by the Centre for Teaching Innovation and Excellence.

Microteaching Sessions

Open to graduate students enrolled in the UTF or UTC, microteaching sessions provide the opportunity to practice your teaching skills in front of a small group of peers and receive constructive feedback. Participants will each plan and deliver a 10-minute lesson. Miroteaching sessions are a requirement for the UTF and one microteaching session can be used towards the completion of the UTC. Register here.

Teaching Assistants Award of Excellence

This award of excellence recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions of an undergraduate and graduate teaching or instructional assistant at Laurier. Award recipients are recognized formally at convocation, receive a framed certificate and $500 scholarship, and have their picture added to the Teaching Hall of Fame.

Scholarly and practical teaching and learning resources are available in print and electronic form. These resources have been prepared or purchased by the Office of Educational Development. Others are available online through the Laurier Library, the web, or vetted sites.

Take advantage of opportunities to develop your teaching practice by way of a classroom observation, collecting student feedback, or one-on-one consultations. Click on the services link to learn more.
