Laurier prof shortlisted for the 2005/06 Donner Prize

Laurier economics professor Dr. David Johnson has been shortlisted for the 2005/06 Donner Book Prize for his book Signposts of Success: Interpreting  Ontario’s Elementary School Test Scores.

Signposts of Success examines the province-wide standardized testing and the relationship between socio-economic status and test results.  Johnson was shortlisted with four others from a total of 55 submissions.  Each short-listed book receives a $5,000 prize.

The winner of the $35,000 Donner Prize will be announced Thursday, April 27, at an awards ceremony in Toronto.  For more information about the Donner Prize and the shortlisted books visit

The Donner Prize is an annual award established by the Donner Canadian Foundation in 1998.  The prize aims to recognize excellence in public policy research and writing in Canada.  The shortlisted books cover a wide variety of issues from economic, political, to society in general.
