Be sure to wear your purple-and-gold at what’s slated to be the biggest and most exciting Homecoming in Laurier’s 100 years. Mark your calendar for Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 and join thousands of alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends for Homecoming 2011 on the Waterloo campus.
The weekend starts with a free pancake breakfast Saturday morning in the Amphitheatre, followed by the Legends of Laurier Lecture series, faculty open houses, and other activities. Official class reunions mark milestone graduation anniversaries ranging from five years to 50 years. Each class brings its own unique flare to the weekend as alumni return to campus to reconnect with friends and members of their Laurier family.
University Stadium will host our Golden Hawks as they challenge the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the annual football game and tailgate party. You may have been to a Laurier football game in the past, but we promise you’ve never been to a game like this. Come early for a number of surprises that you won’t want to miss.
The celebration continues at the Centennial Alumni Celebration, honouring recipients of the 100 Alumni of Achievement and the centennial reunion classes. This event will take place on Saturday evening at Bingemans in Kitchener, complete with transportation to and from the event, a three-course dinner and live entertainment by Laurier’s own Blackwater Trio. This is the centennial event for all alumni and will celebrate what it means to be a Golden Hawk. Other Saturday night events include the beloved alumni parties at Wilf’s Pub and the Turret.
If Saturday doesn’t tucker you out, you can lace up your runners Sunday morning for the fourth annual Laurier Loop to raise money for Laurier’s Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research & Rehabilitation Centre. If you’d prefer something less active, join us as we head to Stratford for the day to take in a performance of the Stratford Festival’s Jesus Christ Superstar.
Make sure to purchase your tickets early – a party like this won’t come around again for another 100 years!
Celebrate Laurier Branford’s third annual Homecoming
