Global Engagement Residence Learning Community seeking interested students

Apr 11/14

Are you a Laurier student in second year or above? Do you aspire to be an engaged and aware citizen of an increasingly complex world? If yes, then you should consider applying to live in the Global Engagement Residence Learning Community on Laurier’s Waterloo campus this fall.

The Global Engagement Residence Learning Community is offered to upper-year students with an interest in the world and their role in it. Students who live in this community are committed to learning through education, action and reflection, and will be given the chance to interact with faculty, staff, community partners and guests to learn and engage with global issues.

“Our residences are more than just a place to sleep and study; they are strong communities that encourage students’ personal growth and greater awareness of their role in the world,” said Phyllis Power, manager, global engagement programming. “The Global Engagement Residence Learning Community aims to enhance student learning inside and outside of the classroom.”

“We are able to offer a dynamic living-learning environment for students invested in their global community because of our strong partnership with Laurier International,” said Dave Shorey, associate director of residence education. “This space will support students interested in connecting with peers who have diverse experiences and will present numerous opportunities to explore issues that affect lives worldwide.”

The new Global Engagement Residence Learning Community is now accepting applications for fall 2014. The residence is located at 209 Regina Street in Waterloo. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2014. For more information on how to apply, click here.
