Laurier celebrates donor generosity on Tag Day

Mar 19/14

Hundreds of purple tags are decorating Laurierís Waterloo and Brantford campuses today to mark the universityís fourth annual Tag Day. Tag Day is held to show the impact of Laurierís exceptional community of donors, including alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends.

Tags are attached to a variety of places, objects and equipment made possible or enhanced through donations. Every tag serves to highlight the many ways in which donations and philanthropy positively impact the university and the student experience every day, from computer rooms and campus clubs, to research and building renovations.

ďDonations have made it possible for me to have a space to collaborate with my fellow students,Ē said Melissa Jarosz, vice-president, academic affairs for the School of Business & Economics Student Society. ďThe KPMG Atrium is the hub of Laurier SBE in my opinion. I canít tell you how many projects I have worked on in this atrium and how many late nights I've had here, leaving at two or three o'clock in the morning. Itís a place to meet with friends, itís a place to meet with fellow students and it has shaped my university experience in a way that I will never be able to fully explain.Ē

Jarosz was just one of the students who shared the impact donors have had on their experience at Laurier through a series of videos. To view the videos, visit

In addition to raising awareness, Tag Day provides an opportunity for the Laurier community to thank the thousands of donors whose generosity help to enrich the Laurier experience.

Tag Day is an initiative of the Development & Alumni Relations Office and is executed by the Student Alumni Association.
