Laurier business professors accept editorial roles for international publications
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Laurier Associate Professor of Marketing Chatura Ranaweera has been named co-editor of Managing Service Quality (MSQ), an international academic business journal. Ranaweera, along with his co-editor Marianna Sigala from the University of the Aegean in Greece, will begin handling all new submissions to the journal Nov. 1.
MSQ, now in its 20th year, publishes six issues annually. In 2009, MSQ had more than 325,000 article downloads and in 2010, it was accepted for inclusion in the Thompson Reuters Social Science Citation Index.
“It is an exciting time to be associated with MSQ since the journal has just been indexed,” said Ranaweera. “MSQ has always played an important role among journals in this field, in that its industry-relevant research caters to both academic and practitioner audiences. I am extremely glad to have an opportunity to continue that editorial philosophy.”
The marketing area of Laurier’s School of Business & Economics is associated with another academic publication: the Journal of Business Venturing (JBV). Professor Nicole Coviello has been associate editor for all international entrepreneurship papers since Sept. 2009.
JBV is a top-ranked journal in entrepreneurship and is used by the Financial Times to assess the quality of MBA programs and their faculty members.
This December, Coviello will travel to India with members of JBV’s international editorial board to help the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the Strategic Management Society of India develop research programs in entrepreneurship.
“The IIM in Bangalore is one of India’s elite business schools and it will be very exciting to see what they are doing as a leading institution that competes on the world stage,” said Coviello.
