Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
More than 1,000 students were served free ice-cream sundaes in the Concourse at the Waterloo Campus, as a gesture of thanks for their outstanding generosity on Thursday, Jan. 27th. Over the past eight years, Laurier students have donated $8.5 million through Laurier’s Student Life Levy to enhance student life.
“Thanks to Laurier students’ continuing generosity to the Student Life Levy, a wide variety of vital student-life initiatives have been funded over the past eight years,” said Rob Donelson, vice-president of development and alumni relations. “The recognition event was a small gesture of thanks for students’ generous investments in their own university experience.”
In total, 90 student enhancement projects have been funded through the Student Life Levy in the past eight years. These have included improving Accessible Learning, providing equipment for the Athletics Complex, supporting student scholarships and bursaries, and supporting technology-based projects and library acquisitions.
“Students are among Laurier’s most dedicated supporters and advocates,” Donelson added. “Their generosity serves as an inspiration to our community. It was great to have an opportunity to thank them personally.”
A recognition event at the Brantford campus will be held in the near future.
