Laurier mourns the passing of Cherry Fraser

Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing

Jan 16/17

Wilfrid Laurier Universityís Faculty of Music and Laurier Conservatory are deeply saddened by the passing of Beckett School at Laurier instructor Cherry Fraser on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, following a brief but aggressive illness.

Graduating from Laurier with her Bachelor of Music in voice and Opera Diploma, Cherry began working at the Beckett School in its early days. She has inspired hundreds of students that have passed through its hallways over her 30 years with the School, many having gone on to study music, drama and musical theatre professionally. Cherry was a champion amongst her peers when the Beckett School joined Laurierís Faculty of Music in 2015 and will be deeply missed by her Laurier friends and colleagues.

A Celebration of Cherry's life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 54 Queen St. North, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in Iona Hall.
