Tag Day highlights the impact of donor generosity at Laurier

Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing

Mar 19/13

Hundreds of tags will decorate Laurier’s Waterloo and Brantford campuses, and its Kitchener and Toronto locations, March 19 to March 21 to mark Laurier’s third annual Tag Day. Tag Day is held to celebrate the immense impact of Laurier’s community of donors, including alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends.

Purple and gold tags are attached to places and objects made possible or enhanced through donations. While it’s not possible to tag every item provided through donations – such as each book and journal – every tag serves to highlight the many ways in which donations and philanthropy positively impact our university and the student experience every day.

“From the buildings and classrooms I study in every day to the online journals I use for my research papers, the impact of donor generosity is everywhere,” said Andrew McCauley, a fourth-year Political Studies and Global Studies student and a member of the Student Philanthropy Council. “Tag Day serves to showcase the incredible and immeasurable impact that philanthropy makes to our university and the Laurier student experience.”

In addition to raising awareness about the vital role that philanthropy plays at Laurier, Tag Day provides an opportunity for the Laurier community to thank the thousands of donors whose donations help to enrich the Laurier experience by providing important enhancements that would not otherwise be possible.

Tag Day is an initiative of Development & Alumni Relations’ Annual Giving program, with great support from Laurier’s Student Philanthropy Council and the Student Alumni Association. Follow these students groups on twitter (@laurierspc or @SAABrantford) to show your support and find out how you can participate.
