The Department of Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce that Dr. Sharon Marquart has accepted an offer from WLU to join the Department of Languages and Literatures as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French specializing in the area of Modern French Literature and Culture, effective 1 July 2012.

Her research on testimonial literature and the literature of Human Rights has appeared or is forthcoming in the top-tier journal French Forum and edited volumes such as The Holocaust in Spanish Memory, edited by Antonio Gómez López Quiñones and Susanne Zepp (Leipziger Universitätsverlag, 2009), and Les revenantes : Charlotte Delbo, la voix d’une communauté à jamais déportée, which Sharon co-edited with David Caron (Presses Universitaires du Mirail, 2011). She is currently working on a book-length project entitled Witnessing, Community and an Ethics of Reading.

Professor Marquart comes to us from the University of Houston (USA), where she has been a Visiting Assistant Professor since 2008. We are delighted that she will be joining our department this fall.
