Undergraduate Psychology Thesis Student Wins Best Research Poster in Cognition

Undergraduate psychology student, Miss Amanda Schell, has been awarded the Best Poster Presentation in Cognition at the 39th Ontario Undergraduate Psychology Thesis Conference held this past May at McMasters University in Hamilton, Ontario. There were 96 submissions in this category. Her poster presentation entitled, "Gender differences in emergent mathematics: Perception vs. reality" explored young children's perceptions of mathematical ability in contrast to those of their parents and teacher. This research was supervised by Dr. Joanne Lee. Amanda is also a research assistant in the Child Language and Math Lab. She will be continuing her studies in the fall of 2009 at Wilfrid Laurier University pursuing a Master's degree in the Department of Psychology. She will be continuing to work with Dr. Lee.
