BRANTFORD – Laurier Brantford will host Tribal Vision Dance for a multimedia performance Monday, Nov. 28 in RCW 002 at 7 p.m.
A First Nations dance group, Tribal Vision features dances and songs in Powwow and Iroquoian styles. Performers will use the show to address pervasive Aboriginal stereotypes in an interesting and educational way, while providing historical and cultural information.
During their interactive performance, which includes Fancy, Grass, Jingle Hoop, and Smoke dances, Tribal Vision will invite the audience to join in, and will give an instrument demonstration.
“An event with Tribal Vision Dance is not only exciting and fun, it is an educational experience that gives people insight into the beauty of Aboriginal cultures,” said Jean Becker, senior advisor: Aboriginal initiatives at Laurier.
The event is sponsored by Aboriginal Student Services at Laurier Brantford and the Aboriginal Student Association. The mandate of Laurier Brantford’s Aboriginal Student Services is to provide culturally relevant, holistic student support services and programs to Aboriginal students.
The event is for all ages, and is free and open to the public. For more information about Tribal Vision, visit: www.tribalvisiondance.com
