Laurier Brantford staff & faculty embrace the United Way campaign
The staff and faculty at Laurier Brantford have always been supportive of the United Way, and this year is no different. Even before our campus campaign officially kicks off next week, the campus has been active in fundraising and giving back to the community.
During the Homecoming Baseball Game on Saturday September 24th, Laurier Brantford alumni, students & employees raised over $180.00 for the United Way through a 50/50 draw. Congratulations to the lucky winner, a second year Laurier Brantford student.
In addition to raising both funds and awareness of the United Way, the Days of Caring program has been a success on campus, as faculty and staff have particpated in two lunch hours volunteering at the local Food Bank. Each time, 11 employees met at the Food Bank on their lunch hour to sort food for those in need. And those would couldn't participate at lunch supported the cause, donating over 100 pounds of food.
Special thanks to Pasquale's Deli & Meats, a proud supporter of the United Way who offered a panini to the all the volunteers.
Watch for more on-campus events to raise awareness and funds for the United Way. A Campaign Kick-Off BBQ will be held in the Research & Academic Centre Courtyard, over the noon hour on Wednesday, October 12th. And back by popular demand, a Beverage Elimination Draw, which last year raised over $200.00 and saw the lucky winner take home over 20 bottles.
