Laurier takes 3rd place at national Excalibur Case Competition

Mar 19/12

On March 17th, following two days of competition, Laurier’s School of Business & Economics came away with third place at the 26th edition of Excalibur, the Canadian interuniversity tournament based in Montréal. Laurier’s team, coached by faculty member D’Arcy Delamere, consisted of Julia Bowen, Daniel Figueroa, and Vaiseekan (Vee) Srithayakumar.

Laurier successfully completed 3 semi-final cases moving them on to the final round where they completed one live business case involving dairy products manufacturer Liberté. Judged by more than ten jury members from Canadian organizations and academia, Laurier finished the final round in first place amongst Ontario universities and third in Canada, behind the Université du Québec à Montréal’s School of Industrial Relations and Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business.

“We are very proud of our Laurier students who showed true dedication and determination,” said team coach and Laurier School of Business & Economics’ professor D’Arcy Delamere. “Provided with only an hour and a half, the Laurier team analyzed the final case with precision and presented an outstanding 20 minute solution and professionally answered 10 minutes of questions from the jury panel.”

Attended by 26 universities from across Canada, Excalibur is the only tournament organized by practitioners for future professionals, who provide schools that offer HR management or industrial relations programs, with the opportunity to compete against each other in a grueling academic event. The 26th edition of the tournament was organized by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agrees.
