Marketing prof. receives best paper award from American Marketing Association

Oct 26/13

School of Business & Economics Professor of Marketing and Betty and Peter Sims Professor of Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nicole Coviello, is the 2013 Gerald E. Hills Award recipient. This award, given by the American Marketing Association, recognizes an article deemed to be an outstanding contribution to entrepreneurial marketing in the past 10 years.

"Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Coviello for this outstanding recognition," said Dr. Chatura Ranaweera, head of the Marketing Area in the School of Business & Economics. "She is an exceptional leader in research at the interface of marketing, international business and entrepreneurship. We are delighted to see her work recognized with this award."

The award-winning paper entitled 'Network dynamics of international new ventures' was published in the Journal of International Business Studies in 2006 and examines how networks change as start-ups serving international markets move from conceptualization to commercialization. It has been highly cited and reprinted since its publication.

Earlier this year, Prof. Coviello also received a $203,480 sub-grant from a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Strategic Knowledge Cluster Initiative award of $1.95 million. She is co-investigator on that award and her sub-grant is focused on the mobilization of international entrepreneurship knowledge.
