Chamber Music Sunday, a workshop for high-school aged performers

January 18, 2009

Jan 6/09

The third annual Chamber Music Sunday is scheduled for January 18, 2009 on campus. The workshop for secondary school students or younger, gives chamber music groups private coachings and master classes with members of the Penderecki String Quartet who are in residence at Laurier.

The workshop begins with a 10 am concert by PSQ. Each student group then gets two coachings by PSQ members from 11am to 5 pm (including a master class open to the public and one devoted to solo repertoire for each instrument). The workshop ends with a concert at 7 pm in the Maureen Forrester Recital Hall, the students performing.

The high school-aged string quartet or trio that has had some experience playing together would be ideal participants in this workshop. Students should prepare music beforehand, having a strong command of their part.  Scores must also be provided. The fee for the entire day is $50.
