WATERLOO and CALGARY – Wilfrid Laurier University and Mount Royal University have signed an exchange agreement allowing students to complete a semester of academic study at the other party’s institution. The agreement between Laurier, which has campuses in Waterloo and Brantford, Ontario, and Mount Royal, located in Calgary, Alberta, will promote the nationalization of higher education, foster inter-provincial diversity and promote cross-country understanding.

“This agreement provides a unique opportunity for students to pursue studies in a different province, allowing them to expand their perspectives and broaden their student experience,” said Max Blouw, president and vice-chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University.

Students will be registered and pay tuition fees to their home university while studying at the host university. A maximum of four students from each university can participate each academic year. The program is open to students in all disciplines.

“As Canadian universities we have a responsibility to expose our students to learning opportunities across the country,” said David Docherty, president of Mount Royal University. “It is one way we can instill a sense of citizenship among our students. I cannot think of a better way to foster pan-Canadian dialogue than an exchange program at Canadian universities. Laurier and Mount Royal will make tremendous partners.”
