Safety notice for the Laurier community
Wilfrid Laurier University is asking members of the Laurier community to exercise additional caution following a sexual assault on a street adjacent to the Waterloo campus early on the morning of July 21.
The incident took place on Bricker Avenue at approximately 1:45 a.m. A 21-year-old woman was walking along the street when she was approached from behind, knocked to the ground and sexually assaulted by an unknown male, according to police.
Several people in the area came to the victim's assistance and the suspect fled on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries not requiring medical treatment.
The suspect is described as being is his early 20s, white, about 5' 9" tall, with a slim muscular build, short brown curly hair, wearing a dark shirt, a dark baseball hat worn backwards and blue jeans.
