2016 Mini-Conference: Student-Community Research Partnerships
Announcing the 2016 Student-Community Research Partnerships for Social Justice and Wellbeing mini-conference!
PLEASE RSVP AT http://www.picatic.com/SCRP2016
All are welcome to join us in recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of the 2015-2016 SCRP interns, as they present the findings of their research. This year’s projects focused on the following issues in our community:
- Barriers and facilitating factors experienced by service providers in referring clients for HIV testing in Waterloo Region
- Lived experiences and well-being of individuals accessing supportive housing in Kitchener
- Perspectives of service providers on effectively including girls and young women in extracurricular programming in Kitchener-Waterloo
This is an exciting opportunity to learn about community-engaged learning and scholarship taking place at Laurier, as well as the vital work of our project partners – the AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo Area (ACCKWA), House of Friendship’s Addiction Supportive Housing program, and the YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo.
Light refreshments will be served. Free to attend. Buildling is accessible. All are welcome.

ABOUT THE SCRP INTERNSHIP:
The Student-Community Research Partnerships for Social Justice and Wellbeing (SCRP) internship is an 8-month program designed to give undergraduate students an opportunity to make a difference in their community while gaining hands-on research experience and skill. Each year, 3 teams of interns work closely with a professor, research associate, and project partner to design and implement a research study to address a community need.
