Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing

Nov 9/10

All members of the Laurier community are invited to attend Laurier’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony Thursday, Nov. 11 in the concourse on the Waterloo campus.

The ceremony, hosted by the History Students' Association and the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union, begins at 10:30 a.m. This year, World War II veteran Arnold Polzin, a member of the Highland Light Infantry Association, will be the keynote speaker.

“We are honoured to have Mr. Polzin at the service as it is a great opportunity for students, staff and faculty to learn about his experiences as a soldier in World War II,” says Denise Gauthier, fourth-year history student and representative from the History Students’ Association. “Please join us in remembering the veterans who have served.”

The ceremony also includes such traditions as the minute of silence and a reading of the poem In Flanders Fields by Laurier Vice-President: Student Affairs David McMurray. Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be provided in the Wilf's Den.

The Laurier Brantford community is encouraged to attend the Brantford Civic Service of Remembrance, beginning at 10:45 a.m. at the Brant County War Memorial located on Brant Ave. between West St. and Bridge St.
