ACUNS: Internship Opportunity

THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL ON THE UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM (ACUNS) is seeking four undergraduate volunteer interns from any Wilfrid Laurier University faculty to provide administrative and research support throughout the year and to help with its annual conference taking place in Istanbul, Turkey from June 19-21, 2014. The chosen volunteer interns will be key members of the conference planning and on-site management team.

                                                                                                                                                        In exchange for return airfare to Istanbul, each intern will be required to volunteer at the ACUNS office for a minimum of 3 hours a week starting the week of October 21, 2013 until the end of June 2014.

Through the year, interns may be tasked with research projects, supporting the ACUNS website, preparing conference materials and other general administrative tasks.

In Istanbul volunteers will be asked to do a range of jobs associated with conference registration and other logistical tasks over a five-day period.

Volunteers will benefit from the experience of participating in the planning and execution of an international conference; they will have access to high-level academics and diplomats in conference and reception settings; they will attend events at Kadir Has University, Istanbul.

They will receive return airfare to Istanbul, Turkey as well as accommodations in return for volunteer service to the ACUNS annual meeting. Some meals are provided. Participants will need to provide their own spending money.

• A letter of interest explaining why the student wishes to participate in this activity and why he/she would be able to make an important contribution.
