The student exchange program is now accepting applications for Winter 2015 term abroad

Jun 26/14

We have some exciting exchange destinations still open for the Winter academic term, so we have decided to re-open the application process!

Click below to find a list of our exchange partners that are still accepting students for Winter 2015 only.

(More information about Fall 2015/Winter 2016 exchanges will be shared in the Fall with information sessions and promotional events!)

Steps to Apply for a Winter 2015 Exchange Term Abroad

  1. Attend an information session!

    • Waterloo Campus e-mail Michelle for details

    • Brantford Campus e-mail Anne-marie for details

    • If you are off campus this term then please email Michelle or Anne-marie to make alternate arrangements

  2. Research the available partners to find an exchange partner that works for you and your program

  3. Review the FAQ section on our website! Chances are that your question has already been answered here:

  4. Meet with the Student Abroad Advisor or the Global Engagement Coordinator to discuss your options, answer your questions, and get some advice!

    • Waterloo Campus contact Michelle Adams 2A01 Laurier International Office, 519 884 0710 x3784

    • Brantford Campus contact Anne-marie Henry RCE 138A Global Engagement Centre, 519 756 8228 x5437

  5. Complete the application found on Depart Smart (you gain access to the MLS program once you have attended an information session)

  6. Submit your application (hard copy)

    • Mail to Laurier International by August 13th. Please take the mailing time into consideration if you are not on campus. The Laurier International mailing address is Laurier International, 75 University Ave West, Waterloo Ontario N2L 3C5.

    • Drop Off to the Laurier International Office at 2A01 on the Waterloo campus or to the Global Engagement Centre RCE 138 A on the Brantford campus.

  7. You will be notified by August 22nd of your acceptance into the exchange program.

  • Contact a student who has already been abroad for some first-hand advice about studying abroad, living abroad, the application process, and more!

  • Give yourself plenty of time to complete the application! You must get department approval, so make an appointment with your academic advisor early to avoid disappointment.

  • Be flexible about your exchange destination. Some of the best learning will happen when you step out of your comfort zone!

  • Submit all of the required documents TOGETHER to ensure that we have received everything on-time.

  • If you already signed a lease, talk to your roommates and ask an incoming exchange student to sublet your room!
