Why should I participate in International Orientation?

International Orientation will provide you with important resources that will contribute to your academic success at Laurier and provide valuable information to ease your transition to university life and Waterloo region.

International Student Peer Mentor Program

If you are a new student coming to Wilfrid Laurier University you can request a peer mentor. The Peer Mentor Program is designed to provide all incoming international students with a senior-year student who will support them in their transition to student life at Laurier.

Winter 2014 International Orientation Schedule

Day One

Orientation Day One will focus on providing you with the resources you will need to navigate the services on campus. You will get an introduction to Laurier International, a campus tour offered by our peer mentors, an opportunity to access your health insurance and class registration information and an off-campus dinner and evening social activity that will help you meet other International and Canadian students.

Day Two

Orientation Day Two will provide you with insights into Canadian culture, strategies for academic success and important information on immigration and university health benefits. You will also have the chance to ask our senior-year International Students about their experience at Laurier during our Peer Mentor Panel session. Day Two will conclude with a city-bus trip to an off-campus dinner in Kitchener and shopping.

Day Three (Optional off-campus trip)

Orientation Day Three is an optional trip to Chicopee Tube Park for snow tubing. Here is a video example of snow tubing. This activity includes a full breakfast and two hours at the park. Transportation will be provided.
