Mandatory Health and Safety Awareness Training
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
The Ministry of Labour released a new Ontario Regulation (O. Reg 297/13) that requires Health and Safety Awareness Training for every worker and supervisor under Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). This regulation comes into effect on July 1, 2014.
The regulation applies to all workplaces covered under the OHSA, regardless of sector. All employers must ensure workers and supervisors complete an awareness training program that meets the regulatory requirements. To ensure Laurier is in compliance with the OHSA and O. Reg. 297/13, all Laurier employees must complete an online awareness training program before Sept. 30, 2014.
To learn more about the training and how to access it, please visit the SHERM webpage at: http://www.wlu.ca/page.php?grp_id=159&p=26377
If after referring to the website you still have questions regarding the training, please contact Christine Haywood, Health and Safety Administrator at email@example.com
By completing the on-line awareness training, you are not only fulfilling your responsibilities as defined in the OHSA, you are also supporting and strengthening Laurier's Internal Responsibility System. Your continued cooperation helps to ensure a safe working and learning environment at Laurier.
