Tim Hortons outlet in Peters Building closing temporarily, Starbucks hours extended
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
The Tim Hortons outlet in the Peters Building on Laurier’s Waterloo campus will close temporarily for the summer starting April 25. To maintain service on campus during the closure, the Starbucks outlet in the Concourse will remain open five days a week with extended hours.
The closure is required to comply with the university’s operating agreement with Tim Hortons, which requires baked goods be available while the location in the Peters Building is open. The bakery that supports the outlets on campus is located in the Science Building, which is undergoing extensive renovations.
“Due to the renovations and lack of ventilation we can’t service the Peters Building location with the required product,” said Dan Dawson, assistant vice-president of Student Services at Laurier, who adds an effort was made to obtain baked goods from a local franchise, but was unsuccessful.
To provide enhanced service to the campus community over the summer, the Starbucks in the Concourse will be open five days a week with extended hours to serve students with evening classes. The Subway in the Bricker Academic Building will also remain open as an additional lunch option on campus.
“We will be closely monitoring demand and lineups during the day and are committed to working very hard to make the service delivery as effective as we can,” said Dawson.
