Laurier launching unique MBA specialization in Management in the Golf and Resort Industry

WATERLOO – Beginning in August, Laurier’s School of Business and Economics will offer a unique specialization within its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program: Management in the Golf and Resort Industry. Launched in partnership with the Golf Management Institute of Canada (GMIC) — which was founded by Laurier alumnus Grant Fraser (BBA ’87) — the specialization offers MBA students an opportunity to develop and apply management skills within the context of the global golf and resort industry.

“We are excited to be working with our golf and resort industry partners to be the first to offer this kind of specialization in an MBA program,” said Hugh Munro, director of Laurier’s MBA program. “Our goal is to develop managerial talent to enhance the performance of those firms operating in this challenging global industry, and to provide exciting career opportunities for our graduates.” 

To help guide the Management in the Golf and Resort Industry specialization going forward, including the future plans to design and deliver the specialization to part-time MBA candidates, the MBA program and GMIC have formed an advisory board of professionals from the golf and resort industry. This group of advisors features representatives from throughout the industry; from golf course designers, to club managers, to equipment manufacturers. The members of the newly formed advisory board include:
