Laurier Centre for Music in the Community and Faculty of Music present Handel’s Messiah
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Wilfrid Laurier University will present a chamber version of Handel's Messiah 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.
This unique chamber version of Messiah is a project of the Laurier Centre for Music in the Community the university’s chamber music program. Lee Willingham, director of the Laurier Centre for Music in the Community, will conduct the Laurier Singers Chamber Choir, the Laurier Chamber Orchestra and soloists who are students, alumni and faculty.
Jerzy Kaplanek, associate professor of violin, has prepared the orchestra, who will also accompany the Georgian Bay Singers of Owen Sound later in December.
“This is a unique production,” said Willingham. “Usually, we hear symphonic forces performing this work. Having a smaller choir and orchestra provides an interesting experience of this most popular choral-orchestral work.”
Admission is by donation and all are welcome.
