Laurier students invited to the Long Night Against Procrastination

The Writing Centre at Laurier’s Waterloo campus is hosting an all-night workshop March 14 to 15 that will give students the opportunity to make a dent on final papers, essays, assignments, and studying.

During the Long Night Against Procrastination (LNAP), students are invited to drop by the Writing Centre, which will have open study space, on-site tutors, refreshments, and activities such as yoga over the course of the night.

Boba Samuels, a writing consultant at the Centre, said they are always looking for ways to encourage students to begin writing their papers sooner so there is time to reflect and revise.

“We also know that pulling all-nighters is sometimes what we do as students to get our work done,” said Samuels. “This event is the perfect opportunity for Laurier students to take advantage of the bad habit of all-nighters to promote the better habits of getting feedback and revising.”

The LNAP initiative first began in Germany in 2010 and has since become part of an international initiative among writing centres that has recently spread to Canada and the United States. On March 14, Laurier will be blogging with the Writing Centre at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, Ohio, which is also holding its own LNAP.

The Laurier LNAP event is March 14 at 8 p.m. to March 15 at 8 a.m. at the Writing Centre in the Dr. Alvin Woods Building. To register, sign up here
