Dr. MacDonald is an Associate Professor of Accounting and holds a PhD in Management (Accounting and Organizational Behaviour) from Queen's University. As well, Dr. MacDonald has a Master of Arts (Economics) and a BComm from Queen's University. Dr. MacDonald is actively researching the adoption of new and innovative practices in management accounting systems. Currently, she is researching the use of informal or local accounting systems supported by a SSHRC grant. Dr. MacDonald is also the Director of the CMA Centre of Excellence in Management Accounting for SMEs. She is actively involved in researching the application of strategic management accounting tools to small and medium enterprises.
Teaching Interests: Management accounting and management control Dr. MacDonald teaches Advanced Management Accounting, Management Control, and Introductory MBA Accounting. She has published articles in Accounting, Organizations and Society, the Journal of Accounting Literature, The Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. Professor MacDonald is also involved in a number of professional and service activities.
