Amanda Lalonde specialises in nineteenth-century music, literature, and aesthetics (especially German), but also devotes her time to researching early New York hip hop. The latter interest gave rise to an article, "Buddy Esquire and the Early Hip Hop Flyer," that appeared in Popular Music 33/1. Amanda holds a PhD from Cornell University (2014) and a B.Mus in music history from McGill University (2008). She is also a lecturer at the University of Guelph.
