Jessie Zhan is an Associate Professor of OB/HRM in the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics. She completed her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Maryland in 2011. One of her research streams is the expression and regulation of emotions at work with a focus on emotional labor of service employees. Applying a multilevel perspective, her research examines both temporary and time-invariant factors to explore the dynamic process of emotion regulation process in customer-employee interaction. Another stream is older worker employment and retirement. Her research integrates multiple theoretical perspectives to examine the factors that contribute to employees’ retirement-related decision making process and their adjustment process to retirement. Related to both streams, Jessie is interested in studying work stress, coping and well-being of employees in general. Jessie’s research has been published at academic journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Occupational Health Psychology.
