Joseph Ferretti has performed in Europe, Canada and the USA as soloist and collaborative artist. Recent concert highlights include the Canadian Opera Company’s Piano Virtuoso Series, Toronto’s Music Gallery, Barrie’s Colours of Music Festival, the CMC’s New Music in New Places, The Banff Centre for the Arts, and numerous others. He has also been heard with such ensembles as the KW Symphony and the Talisker Players, and performs frequently as a duo pianist with Elaine Lau, with whom he has recorded for Capstone Records. They have collaborated with such composers as Linda Catlin Smith, Karlheinz Essl, and Jack Behrens, and their performance as duo soloists in a NUMUS concerto concert was a recent highlight.

As a member of the junctQín keyboard collective, Joseph takes part in numerous events that involve the generation and performance of innovative works for keyboard. They have premiered works by dozens of composers, have been aired on CBC and Rondo Classic (Finland, Armenia, Hungary, and Kyrgyzstan) and have been the recipient of awards from the Ernst von Seimens Foundation, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council.

Dr. Ferretti has taught at Wilfrid Laurier University since 2003. He has also been on faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, where he held a summer faculty residency from 2002-2008. Joseph is active across Canada as a festival and competition adjudicator, and as a senior examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has presented workshops and lecture recitals for such institutions as The Glenn Gould School, Mt. Allison University, and the CFMTA National Convention. Joseph also continues to serve as a project Teacher Advisor and workshop presenter for the online learning tool iSCORE, a project developed by Queen’s University, Concordia University and the RCM.

Dr. Ferretti received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from University of Colorado Boulder, where he was honoured as the Outstanding Junior and Outstanding Senior in the College of Music. A recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, Joseph received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
