Academic Background
MusBac, MusM (Toronto), DMA (British Columbia)

Academically, I have received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of British Columbia following MusBac and MusM degrees from the University of Toronto.

As a composer, my works have been performed throughout North America and Europe and have been recorded on numerous compact discs under the CBC Musica Viva, CMC Centrediscs, Conaccord, CBC and Artifact labels.

In 1985, I founded Waterloo’s NUMUS Concerts and in 1998 created the Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound.

From 1999-2003, I held the role of composer in residence with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and was Wilfrid Laurier University's university Research professor for 2006-2007.

Academic/Performance Interests

My compositions are in many genres, from orchestral and chamber music to instrumental theatre, performance art, electroacoustics and installations. Some of my concert work incorporates theatrical and multi-media elements, reflecting my interest in extending traditional concert music performance practices.

I’m currently involved in writing for percussion and a theatre project based on the current trend towards algorithmithic stock market trading.
