WATERLOO: Grand Opening of Mino-kummik Community Garden & Natural Area (National Aboriginal Day Celebrations)

Jun 22/13

Behind an Albert Street house lies a picturesque garden intended to educate and engage the community.

The Mino-kummik Aboriginal Community Garden behind 187 Albert St., opened Friday at Wilfrid Laurier University, marking National Aboriginal Day.

"As aboriginal people, the outdoors, the natural environment is really important to us," said Jean Becker, senior adviser of the Office of Aboriginal Initiatives.

"We always had this in mind, that we wanted a space outside where we could do some programming do some ceremonies."
