Controversy in the Classroom - Community of Practice

Jan 22/14

Date: Jan 22/14
Time: 12:00 - 13:30
Location: DAWB 5-103
Cost: Free

This Community of Practice (CoP) will provide a forum for Laurier faculty and teaching assistants from across the university to share their experiences of encountering bias, discrimination and other controversial interactions in the classroom. A key to responding well to inappropriate or offensive interactions is to anticipate them and discuss ways to handle them, by sharing experiences with colleagues.

Two CoPs will be organised - one on the Waterloo campus and another on the Brantford campus. The agenda for the first gathering will allow us to organise future meetings around participants' needs, interests and questions.

The first meeting at the Waterloo campus will be held in DAWB 5-103 on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 12 noon until 1:30 pm. Bring your lunch and we will provide refreshments.
