Small business strategy as a dynamic process: Concepts, controversies, and implications

Ensign, P.C.

published: 2008 | Research publication | Journal Article

How a venture’s strategy develops over time may be as important as the decisions and actions taken by that venture. This view is based on the assertion that strategy is a dynamic process. In this article, a small business’ s strategy is described as dominant decisions, focus, and a process. Strategy can be viewed as one continuous process or a combination of strategies. If entrepreneurial strategy is viewed as a dynamic process, research efforts must take an integrated and temporal perspective. How research is designed (including methods) may be as important as what is studied (the phenomenon).
