Faculty of Social Work
In 1998, the Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work (CASSW) reaccredited our MSW program for the maximum seven years. This is the third consecutive seven-year accreditation earned by the Faculty of Social Work. Our strong showing can be attributed to the emphasis we place on practice, research and our commitment to students. Our program is geared toward training students in advanced practice in Individuals, Families and Groups and advanced practice in Community, Policy, Planning and Organizations.
Our PhD program is for students with Master of Social Work degree or the equivalent. Since our program began in 1987, 35 doctoral degrees have been awarded. Our graduates are employed in a variety of professional capacities. Many of our graduates are employed in university teaching positions; others are employed as executive directors of social service agencies, public service, consulting, and research in the private sector.
