Part-Time Studies - Applicants with Post-Secondary Education
If you have attended another university or a college in the past, we must take your academic standing into consideration. However, we will also consider the length of time you have been away from your previous studies.
You must disclose all of your post-secondary education at the time you apply for admission. As well, it is your responsibility to ensure that your application information is truthful, complete and correct. The university reserves the right to verify any information provided as part of your application. If any information in your application is determined to be false or misleading, concealed or withheld, your application may be invalidated and this could result in its immediate rejection or in the revocation of an offer of admission or registration at a university. Information about a rejection of your application may be shared with universities and colleges across Canada. The determination of whether an application contains false or misleading information or that you have concealed or withheld information, and with which universities or colleges this information may be shared, is solely in the discretion of the OUAC and/or the university(ies) to which you have applied.
Official transcripts are required from all post-secondary institutions and we will assess automatically any applicable transfer credit when making our admission decision. Refer to the section below on Transfer Credit Policies.
Once we receive your application form and official transcripts, we will review your file and mail our admission decision to you. If you are eligible for transfer credit, an assessment of your advanced standing will appear on your Offer of Admission. On occasion, an early conditional Offer of Admission is made pending receipt of final transcripts. In this case, the transfer credit assessment will be delayed until the official final documents are received. You will be sent a written confirmation of the credits granted when these documents have arrived. It is your responsibility to be aware of the implications of registering in courses without having your transfer credit assessment completed.
The university is committed to granting appropriate transfer credit to the maximum extent possible. Factors that affect transfer credit include: the type of institution you attended, the applicability of the courses to the program you wish to enter, your grades, and the minimum Laurier course requirements as outlined in the Undergraduate Calendar section entitled Residence Requirements. You normally will be asked to provide course descriptions from the institution you attended.
Transfer Credit Policies
a) Fully accredited universities: subject to the guidelines noted above, a credit-for-credit transfer will be allowed wherever possible. If an equivalent course is not available at Laurier, we will attempt to award an unspecified elective credit.
Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAATs) or equivalent for
two-year or three-year diploma programs -
