Laurier's OneCard is used as photo identification and as a library card at both the main campus and Brantford campus. It is also a physical activities card and a meal debit card, to be used at the main campus only.
Resident students are required to have a meal plan, with the exception of Bricker Residence, Laurier Place Residence, University Place Residence, Regina Street Residence and all non-traditional style residences. The residence meal plan is divided into three parts: Primary, Alternative and Convenience dollars. Prime dollars can only be spent at the Fresh Food Company (Dining Hall), Waterloo College Hall Cafe, and King Street Residence Cafe. Alternative dollars can only be spent at On Campus food outlets. The Dining Hall will automatically withdraw dollars remaining in the Prime account first, and then withdraw from the Alternative account. Convenience dollars may be used to purchase food at any On and Off Campus location and is also used for non-food related purchases such as laser printing, photocopying, and taxi rides.
Alternative dollars may be used at the following on-campus locations: Fresh Food Company (Dining Hall), Waterloo College Hall Cafe, King Street Residence Cafe, Tim Horton's, Concourse Cafe (Second Cup), Expresso's Library Cafe, Athletic Kiosk, Wilf's Restaurant and Pub, and the Terrace Food Court: Harvey's, Mr. Sub, Yogen Früz, Pizza Pizza, Union Market and Pita Shack.
Students can also add money to the convenience account (there are no tax savings with this account). This account can be used at any of the designated food locations mentioned above, as well as off-campus food locations (Angie's Kitchen, Benny's Restaurant, MacDonell Village, Noodle Hut Chinese Restaurant, Pizza Pizza delivery, Rude Native Bistro, Swiss Chalet delivery, Farah Foods University Plaza, Quick Sandwiches and William's Restaurant) and non-food locations (Centre Spot, Bookstore, The Hub, Prism & Laser Printing, Residence laundry services, Beach Bunnies Tanning, University Pharmacy, Sugar Mountain, Medical Services, Waterloo Taxi, and the new OneMall). Visit the OneMall website at www.onemall.ca
Students living off-campus can purchase a Value Plan from the OneCard office in order to save GST and PST on all on campus food outlet purchases. Value Plans are sold by the month, term and academic year. Each Value Plan expires at the end of the calendar month (e.g. September 1 to September 30) at which point any remaining funds are automatically transferred into the Convenience account. Any remaining Value Plan funds left on your card at the end of the winter term will be transferred to your Convenience account. Information is available on the website.
Meal plans can be purchased and additional money added throughout the term at the OneCard office. When purchasing food, the amount is deducted from the balance and the new account balance is available upon request. Students with a remaining balance at the end of the winter term can apply for a refund at the OneCard Office between may 15 and September 15.
Students can deposit money on to their OneCard in one of four ways: at the OneCard Office during regular hours of operation, online at our website, at the automatic deposit machines in the Concourse and Library and with your cell phone using the XMOne application.
OneCard Rewards is a brand new program for 2006. For every convenience dollar spent, two points are earned. Students can collect these points and redeem them for prizes from the OneCard Office, Laurier Bookstore, WLU Students' Union and WLU Food Services. For more information, visit the rewards website.
If a OneCard is stolen or lost, it is protected once it has been reported in person at the OneCard office. OneCards lost or stolen outside of office hours can be de-activated at any food service location on campus, or it can be de-activated on the OneCard website, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Replacement cards are issued for a $20.00 fee.
