Contemporary Issues in Environmental Policy
0.5 Credit

Effective policy solutions to environmental issues have been slow to emerge partly because environmental policy-making is an exercise in crossing boundaries. Boundaries include those between the environment and the economy, between sovereign jurisdictions, and between the scientific and political communities. This course considers these boundaries in the context of policy
approaches that focus on pollution prevention, targeted incentives and flexibility in implementation. Case studies will be drawn primarily from the North American and Western European contexts and may include issues relating to environmental and natural resource policies.
