Aboriginal Politics and the Canadian State

This course examines the dynamic impact that Aboriginal peoples have had on the Canadian polity. It focuses on the extent to which the Canadian state has and can accommodate the political, economic, social, and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal peoples. Topics may include self-government, self-determination, land claims, economic development, urban Aboriginal peoples, Métis, the law and the courts, globalization, Aboriginal philosophy and methodology.
