Law and Society II: Are There Doors In Law Schools?
0.5 Credit

Is it enough simply ‘to look through the windows’ at society to understand the law, or must we ‘walk through the doors’ into an experience of the world to consider whether law and society affect one another? This course will explore in greater detail those issues glimpsed in Part One. Potential topics include, on the one hand, judicial discretion, legal positivism, and the rule of law, and on the other hand, the role of class, race, gender, and politics, insofar as they affect the formation and enforcement of law.
